A warm welcome to my first ever blog post! I thought this would be a great way to show some of my general photo wonderings that are not directly related to my professional services/portfolio.
This entry takes us on a photo walk around Whitby, North Yorkshire. One of the most photographed towns in Yorkshire, for good reason.
When I was young, it felt like my parents took us here every weekend, I still absolutely love visiting.

The camera I used is a Nikon D750 which was released back in 2014. It is a full frame camera that is tried and tested, a favourite of event & wedding photographers alike.

The piers of Whitby are great opportunities for practising composition, here we have the rule of thirds.

As the caption says, Henrietta St. is home to Fortune's Kippers EST 1872.
The light was hitting just right, and the smokey smell just added to the atmosphere. To find out more about Fortune's, head to their website here: https://fortuneskippers.co.uk/

Otto's on John St is a truly beautifully curated antique shop. It's been open just over a year as far as I know. The lettering and paint choice on the shop front really stands out. We always like to have a nosey around and usually come away with something.
Currently they do not have a website, but they do have an Instagram here: https://www.instagram.com/ottosofwhitby/

This mural is located around the back of The Marine Hotel on Pier Road. The D750 captures the colour beautifully, I list the other reasons why the camera is a great option at the £450.00 price mark (second hand). While it is a popular choice for professional event photographers, there's no reason it can't be used as a "street" photography camera. It's a little on the heavy side, but pair it with a 50mm lens and its fine to walk around with all day.

R.A Willison & Son is another great example of a traditional shop front working well with the historic character of Whitby. The shop is located on Wellington Road.

If you got this far, thanks for following along. Please comment below your favourite areas of Whitby
